On June 7, 2024, the Florida Atlantic College of Engineering and Computer Science, in partnership with Florida Power & Light (FPL), proudly announced the launch of the FPL Center for Intelligent Energy Technologies (InETech). This cutting-edge facility was made possible by a generous $1 million donation from the NextEra Energy Foundation.

Located in the Engineering East building on Florida Atlantic's Boca Raton campus, InETech is poised to revolutionize the field of energy research. The center is equipped with 18 high-tech screens and advanced computing resources, making it a hub for innovation in smart grid technologies. This AI-enabled center is not only a game-changer for energy research but also a critical component in workforce development.

InETech will play a pivotal role in preparing Florida Atlantic students for careers in the energy sector, ensuring they are equipped with the skills needed to thrive in this rapidly evolving industry. The collaboration between Florida Atlantic and FPL also extends beyond the university, with initiatives that include scholarships, community outreach programs, and educational activities for K-12 students. These efforts are designed to inspire and prepare the next generation of energy leaders, fostering a deeper understanding of the importance of intelligent energy technologies.
